P O G S Wor ld E nvironment Day Celebra on 14june – Nurturing Nature, Strengthening BondsThe Pune Obstetric and Gynaecological Society (POGS) celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm at the picturesque farmhouse of Dr. Charulata Bapaye in Khadakwasla. The event brought together young and senior POGS members along with their families for a memorable morning dedicated to environmental conserva on and fellowship.A special tree planta on drive was organized, where members planted saplings that were though ully labelled with their names, crea ng a las ng green legacy for the society. The event witnessed the gracious presence of several esteemed past presidents, including Dr. Charu Chandra Joshi, Dr. Bhar Dhorepa l, Dr Sanjeev Khurd whose par cipa on added warmth and inspira on to the occasion.A highlight of the program was the felicita on of Dr. Shirish Patwardhan, Past President of POGS, in recogni on of his remarkable commitment to health and fitness. His hear elt address, filled with fond memories and inspiring experiences, was enjoyed by everyone present.The gathering was further enriched by an engaging talk from Dr. Neha Kulkarni, an enthusias c environmentalist, who emphasized the importance of sustainable living and individual responsibility towards protec ng our planet.The celebra on beau fully reflected the POGS spirit of caring—not only for the health of women but also for the health of our environment. A programme was arranged on 18th of June, for general prac oners of the area to introduce them about IUI services at GGFC of FPAI Pune.The programme was a ended by 40 doctors. They were given informa on about Basics of infer lity, IUI services, How to choose between IUI and IVF treatment op ons by dr. On the warm Monday morning of 11th May 2026, POGS had arranged social awareness program in the Ins tute of Nursing Educa on and Research, – Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune. The program started with the inaugura on at the hands of our Chief Guest Dr. Sanjeev Khurd, our own past president of POGS by e lamp ligh ng. It was followed by his felicita on at the hands of POGS president Dr. Uma Wankhede and General secretary Dr. Charulata Bapaye. Principal Professor Dr. Poorva Manjarekar and Associate Professor Dr. Vaishali Gaikwad from INER, were instrumental in the arrangements for this session. 2nd April 2026 POGS in association with Symbiosis medical college for women (SMCW), SUHRC, Symbiosis college of Nursing (SCON), Symbiosis International (Deemed University) organised & conducted a public awareness program on Safe Motherhood on 2nd April 2026, Thursday at SMCW for the nursing college students This program was conducted to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice for undergraduate nursing students. The program was focused on improving the proficiency in nursing core skills & instil an understanding of patient safety goals and infection control protocols. 18 th and 19 th April 2026 – The Installation CME PRAGATI 2026 – Stay Current, Stay Ahead was conducted on 18th & 19 th April, 2026 with tremendous enthusiasm and emerged as a resounding success. The event witnessed an impressive total of 294 registrations, including 167 delegates and 127 faculty members, reflecting the strong academic commitment and vibrant participation of the POGS fraternity. The scientific program was thoughtfully curated and featured enriching panel discussions, stimulating debates, and prestigious orations including the Anjaneyulu Oration and the Dr. A. V. Umranikar Oration, all of which provided valuable clinical perspectives and practical take-home messages. The session on the newer management of threatened abortion was particularly appreciated for its relevance and clinical applicability. Held on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya, the event was graced by eminent dignitaries — Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar as Chief Guest, Dr. Bhaskar Pal as Guest of Honour, and Dr. Ameya Purandare as Special Guest — whose presence added great prestige to the occasion. Beyond academics, PRAGATI 2026 celebrated the spirit of togetherness and fellowship within POGS.  1st March 2026 A power packed academic Sunday unfolded on 1st March 2026 at Ramee Grand Hotel, Pune, featuring a “Double Dhamaka” of masterclasses for obstetricians and gynaecologists. The morning session focused on genetic testing, with expert talks covering IVF genetics, NIPT, counselling, and clinical applications, followed by a celebration of women leaders in the community. The afternoon hosted the FOGSI REACH CME “The Grand Exit” hysterectomy masterclass, marking Pune Ob-Gyn Society’s distinction as the first host in Maharashtra. Over 130 registrations, the event delivered practical, guideline-aligned learning through meticulous planning and strong academic collaboration.

8 March 2026 – POGS marked International Women’s Day with a meaningful initiative, “Give to Gain,” by engaging with the young students of Gurukulam Ashram Shala and promoting the value of education. The program was graced by Padmashree Shri Girish Prabhune ji, whose inspiring work in social upliftment added depth to the occasion. A special highlight was the “Pustak Tula” of ICOG Chairperson Dr. Parag Biniwale, with books generously donated to the students. Books were distributed on behalf of POGS by Dr Parag Biniwale and Dr Nilesh Balkawade.

The Women’s Day Radiocity campaign, convened in collaboration with Radio city 91.1 FM, was a meaningful social awareness initiative organized by POGS on account of women’s day on 7th & 8 th March. The campaign aimed to educate and empower women by addressing important aspects of women’s health. A total of 23 managing committee members, along with office bearers, actively participated in the program. Each member went on air to share expert insights on a wide range of relevant health topics. The discussions included normalising fertility treatments and raising awareness about options such as egg freezing. Key maternal health topics like antenatal care and preparation for normal delivery were also highlighted. The campaign also tackled modern challenges such as the overreliance on “Dr Google” versus seeking advice from qualified medical professionals. Additional topics like menopause, mental health, postpartum depression,advances in laparoscopy were also explained. Overall, the initiative successfully created awareness on neglected areas of discussion.
