Masterclass on cadaveric internal iliac artery ligation was conducted on 11th January 2026 has given a stupendous display of cadaveric dissection, skills and fantastic deliberations on the subject, right from the anatomical aspects, tips & tricks to the complications and their management.
POGS in association with Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) conducted this extremely important scientific session today in utmost details at the Anatomy lecture & Dissection hall at AFMC.
The dedication, support and timely help obtained from all the honourable team from AFMC & faculties from POGS has taken this hands on session to a very high academic standard.
This Masterclass was attended by 120 delegates. Scientific deliberations started with basic anatomy of IIA & further included Laparoscopic & laparotomic approaches to the saviour blood vessel ligation. Sessions also included indications & complication during the procedure. Stalwarts in the field addressed the gathering on these principles of surgery.
Deep educational interest of all those who registered for this unique cadaveric dissection session made the masterclass more interactive & hence interesting & very informative.
The generous gesture of hosting this masterclass at AFMC campus by respected Maj Gen Atul Seth, Dean & Deputy Commandant AFMC, Col Madhusudan Dey, HOD OBGYn department AFMC & Col Tripti Shrivastava, HOD Department of Anatomy AFMC with teams of both the departments made this event successful.
The deciplined and accomodating organisation by anatomy department under the guidance of Col Tripti Shrivastav, HOD anatomy department AFMC made the masterclass a top notch experience for every registered delegate. The detailed stepwise dissection demonstrated & explained by Maj Gen Ajay Shrivastav was directly relayed from the highly digitally accessorised dissection hall on multiple screens as well as the anatomy lecture hall for each & every person to learn the art once again. The dissection steps were also demonstrated by our expert faculties Dr Kundan Ingale, Dr Arundhati Kanade, Dr Deepak Kolte & Dr Shriraj Katakdhond. All delegates got to do the hands-on dissection on the cadavers after the demonstration.
Deliberations were given by Maj Gen Atul Sheth, Col Tripti Shrivastava, Dr Harshad Parasnis, Dr Manish Machave, Dr Milind Dugad and Col Suneeta Singh. Expert chairpersons were Dr Ramesh Bhosale, Dr Uma Wankhede, Dr Charuchandra Joshi and Dr Pankaj Sarode.
Col Vinod Dalal & Col Sireesha Anne were instrumental in coordinating the masterclass with POGS conveners, Dr Kalyani Ingale, Clinical Secretary POGS & Dr Laxmikant Behele, Chairperson, HRP committee, POGS.
ICOG, AMOGS & MMC granted 2 points each. We thank Dr Vaijayanti Patwardhan for being the observer from MMC.
POGS newsletter for the month of January on the theme of public awareness with FAQs patients ask was unveiled by the faculty. This chronicle was compiled by Dr Vaishali Biniwale, Chairperson PAC Committee, POGS & Dr Shilpa Kshirsagar, Co-chairperson PAC Committee POGS.
